Mass %, EN 12164: copper, lead and iron. The standard also sets maxima for nickel, aluminium, tin and other elements; the EN 10204 3.1 certificate reports the analysis of the supplied heat. Zinc is the remainder.

Typical values; a range shows the spread of published data. EN 12164 condition names state the minimum tensile strength (R400 = at least 400 N/mm²); the mill certificate reports the values of the supplied bar.

| EN (Europe) | CW606N / CuZn37Pb2 — EN 12164, 12166, 12167, 12168 |
| UNS / ASTM — equivalent | C35300 — ASTM B453 (Cu 60.0–63.0, 61.0 min for rod; Pb 1.5–2.5; Fe ≤0.15) |
| BS (UK legacy) | CZ131 — nearest old grade, also of CW601N (CuZn35Pb2) |
| EN — higher-lead grade | CW614N / CuZn39Pb3 (Cu 57–59, Pb 2.2–3.5) |
| EN — similar copper, more lead | CW603N / CuZn36Pb3 (Cu 60–62, Pb 2.5–3.5) |
CW606N (CuZn37Pb2) is a leaded free-cutting brass with 61.0–62.0 % copper, 1.6–2.5 % lead and at most 0.20 % iron, balance zinc; EN 12164 also limits nickel, aluminium, tin and other elements. It is listed in EN 12164 for free-machining rod and in the EN standards for wire, profiles and hollow rod. The Copper Development Association UK gives CZ131 as its nearest old British grade.
They are equivalents, with one limit to check. The copper (61.0–62.0 %) and lead (1.6–2.5 %) ranges of CW606N lie inside those of C35300 (60.0–63.0 % copper, 61.0 % minimum for rod; 1.5–2.5 % lead), but CW606N allows up to 0.20 % iron where C35300 stops at 0.15 %. A CW606N heat with more than 0.15 % iron is therefore not C35300; compare the EN 10204 3.1 analysis with the grade on your drawing.
CW614N (CuZn39Pb3) has 57–59 % copper and 2.2–3.5 % lead; CW606N has 61.0–62.0 % copper and 1.6–2.5 % lead. The Copper Development Association UK notes that the higher copper and lower lead of grades like CW606N improve ductility, so they can be cold headed and riveted, and describes CW614N as the most suitable grade for high-speed machining, with limited ability to be cold worked.
CZ131 is an old BS 2874 designation. It is the nearest old British grade for CW606N (CuZn37Pb2) and also for CW601N (CuZn35Pb2), so a drawing that names CZ131 needs the EN grade confirmed before ordering.
For RoHS, its 1.6–2.5 % lead is covered by Annex III exemption 6(c), which allows up to 4 % lead in copper alloys and is currently valid to 30 June 2027. For drinking-water contact it is not suitable: NSF/ANSI 372 limits the weighted lead content of wetted surfaces to 0.25 %. Lead-free options on this site include the silicon brass C69300 / CW724R and the bismuth brass C6802.
