Where Brass Components Are Used in AI Cooling Systems

Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs)

The hydraulic control centre of a liquid-cooled data center — heat exchange between facility and IT loops, flow regulation, pressure balancing and leak-detection integration.

Brass components we machine

BSP / NPT threaded adapters, compression fittings, sensor ports, thermowell housings, pressure-transducer bodies, flow-sensor housings, drain and fill-port fittings, valve and check-valve bodies, and air-vent fittings.

Key requirements: Working pressures 6–25 bar, coolant 5–60 °C, glycol-water and corrosion-inhibited fluids, continuous duty — thread precision and dimensional consistency prevent leakage.
Direct-to-Chip Cooling Loops

Heat removed directly from CPUs, GPUs, memory and AI accelerators through cold plates and supply/return manifolds.

Brass components we machine

Precision-turned hose barbs, compression fittings, threaded couplers, reducers, adapters, connector bodies, sensor-mounting interfaces and flow-distribution fittings.

Key requirements: Leak-tight sealing, consistent thread engagement, minimal pressure drop, vibration resistance and thermal-cycling durability — microscopic deviations can affect seal integrity at scale.
Rack-Level Manifold Systems

Distribute coolant from the CDU to individual servers with balanced flow, controlled pressure drop and uniform thermal performance.

Quick-Disconnect Coupling Assemblies

Non-spill, hot-swappable couplings that let servers be disconnected for maintenance without coolant loss.

Brass components we machine

Coupling bodies, valve retainers, threaded inserts, male and female adapters, sleeve components and locking interfaces.

Key requirements: Zero-drip operation, high cycle life, coolant compatibility, dimensional precision and pressure retention — brass is preferred for machinability, sealing and corrosion resistance.
Monitoring & Control Components

Liquid-cooling infrastructure relies on instrumentation for thermal stability and reliability.

Brass components we machine

Temperature: RTD sensor housings, thermowells, probe adapters. Pressure: sensor bodies, gauge adapters, test ports. Flow: meter housings, sensor-mounting bodies, calibration ports. Leak detection: sampling ports, drain assemblies, monitoring interfaces.

Key requirements: Repeatable sealing faces and precise threads for reliable sensor mounting and measurement.
Why precision matters

A hyperscale AI deployment can contain thousands of liquid-cooled servers, hundreds of CDUs and tens of thousands of fluid connections running millions of operating hours a year. A single failed fitting can mean coolant leakage, downtime and thermal throttling — so AI-cooling OEMs demand leak-tight sealing surfaces, precise thread geometry, batch-to-batch repeatability and full material traceability. We machine to your drawing and supply EN 10204 3.1 certificates; final leak and pressure validation of the assembly stays with the equipment maker.

What data-center parts can Brassland machine?
Liquid-cooling fittings and quick-disconnects, cold-plate and manifold connectors, electrical terminal blocks and PDU terminals, copper busbars and busbar connectors, cable glands, threaded inserts and standoffs, and earthing/bonding terminals — all turned and milled to your drawing.
Which alloys do you use for liquid-cooling versus power parts?
Standard free-cutting C36000 / CZ121 / CW614N and C38500 / CW617N for general fittings and hardware; C11000 (Cu-ETP) copper for busbars and power terminals; and CW602N DZR brass, 316L stainless steel or aluminium for liquid-cooling fittings where coolant compatibility or galvanic neutrality matters. The grade is fixed on your approved drawing.
Do you offer low-lead or lead-free brass for coolant-wetted parts?
Yes — for fluid-handling and RoHS-critical parts we machine low-lead and lead-free grades such as C27450 and C46400 (naval brass), as well as DZR brass, alongside standard free-cutting C36000 / C38500. We confirm the grade and any lead limit at quotation.
Do you make liquid-cooling fittings in stainless steel or aluminium?
Yes — alongside brass and DZR brass, we machine liquid-cooling fittings in 316L stainless steel for maximum coolant compatibility and galvanic neutrality, and in aluminium for manifolds, cold-plate parts and lightweight fittings. The material is fixed on your approved drawing.
Are your coolant fittings suitable for water-glycol and engineered fluids?
We machine fittings in DZR and low-lead brass, 316L stainless steel and aluminium suited to water-glycol coolants, with O-ring seal grooves to your drawing. Compatibility with specific dielectric or engineered coolants, and final leak/pressure validation, are confirmed by the equipment manufacturer.
How do you address galvanic corrosion in mixed-metal cooling loops?
We advise on material and plating (for example 316L stainless steel, aluminium or nickel-plated brass) so parts run safely alongside copper cold plates and aluminium manifolds in closed-loop coolant systems; final corrosion validation of the assembly is the equipment maker's responsibility.
Can you make quick-disconnect and blind-mate coupling bodies?
Yes — we machine the brass, stainless or aluminium coupling and shut-off bodies, sleeves and seal-groove parts for quick-disconnect and blind-mate couplings; valves, springs, O-rings and assembly are completed by you or your coupling maker.
