Brassland is a precision brass-component manufacturer in Jamnagar, India, supplying turned and milled fittings to drip, sprinkler and micro-irrigation OEMs and agricultural-equipment exporters in 40+ countries. We machine spray nozzles, barbed fittings (8/12/16 mm), BSP threaded connectors, flow regulators, pressure-compensating dripper parts and manifold tees and elbows — from CW617N free-machining brass and CW602N (DZR) for potable supply lines. Every part is made to your drawing on Swiss-type and CNC machines and inspected in-house, referencing ISO 9261. ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified. Choosing the grade? Lead-Free & Low-Lead Brass for Potable Irrigation

Where drip and sprinkler lines connect to the drinking-water mains, the rules on lead in water-contact brass have tightened on both sides of the Atlantic. For potable-contact parts we machine dedicated low-lead and lead-free grades in place of standard leaded brass.

Why it matters

Standard free-machining brass such as CW617N carries roughly 2–3% lead to give clean cutting and good chip control. That lead is what newer drinking-water rules restrict on any surface the water touches.

In North America, the Safe Drinking Water Act — as amended by the Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act, in force since 2014 — defines "lead-free" as a weighted average of no more than 0.25% lead across all wetted surfaces. Lead content is verified to NSF/ANSI 372, while NSF/ANSI 61 covers how much may migrate into the water.

In Europe, Drinking Water Directive (EU) 2020/2184 lowers the lead limit in water toward 5 µg/L and introduces EU positive lists of accepted materials (building on the 4MS common composition list), which restrict water-contact alloys to around 0.1% lead — stricter than the North American limit.

CW724R — Lead-Free Silicon Brass

CuZn21Si3P. Effectively lead-free, with high strength (~500 MPa) and excellent machinability — well suited to pressure-bearing potable fittings and PPR-type connectors.

Lead-freeHigh strength

CW511L — Low-Lead DZR Brass

Lead held to ≤0.1% with arsenic added for dezincification resistance. Suited to aggressive, hard or chlorinated potable supplies and buried fittings.

≤0.1% PbDZR

CW510L — Low-Lead Brass

A reduced-lead alternative to CW617N for general potable-contact parts where DZR is not required but lead limits still apply.

Low-leadPotable

We machine these grades to your drawing and supply EN 10204 Type 3.1 mill certificates for the material. Brassland is certified to ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001; product-level potable approvals — NSF/ANSI 61 & 372, WRAS, or EU positive-list / 4MS acceptance — are specific to the finished component and are arranged by the buyer. Tell us your destination market at quotation and we will match the right grade.

Recommended Alloys for Irrigation & Agriculture

  • CW617N (standard)
  • CW602N (DZR — dezincification resistant, recommended for water systems)
  • CW614N (free-cutting)

Key advantage: CW602N DZR brass resists dezincification in aggressive or chlorinated water supplies — ideal for buried or outdoor irrigation systems.

Irrigation — Frequently Asked Questions

Which brass grades suit outdoor irrigation use?
CW617N for general fittings and CW602N DZR brass where dezincification resistance is needed in hard or chlorinated water and continuous outdoor exposure. We advise on the right grade for your water and climate.
Can you machine fittings to my drawing and thread standard?
Yes — couplings, nipples, adaptors, nozzles and valve bodies are turned and milled to your drawing in BSP (ISO 228 parallel / ISO 7 taper), NPT or metric threads.
Do your parts meet potable/drinking-water rules?
We machine the part to your specification and chosen grade. Final product approvals such as WRAS, NSF/ANSI 61, or the EU positive-list / 4MS acceptance are specific to the finished component and are arranged by the buyer. Low-lead and lead-free grades suitable for those schemes are available — see the lead-free section above.
Do you offer lead-free or low-lead brass for drinking-water lines?
Yes. Alongside standard CW617N we machine the lead-free silicon brasses CW724R and C69300 and the low-lead grades CW511L (dezincification-resistant) and CW510L. These suit the modern potable limits — a weighted average of 0.25% lead on wetted surfaces under the US Safe Drinking Water Act (verified to NSF/ANSI 372), and roughly 0.1% under EU Drinking Water Directive 2020/2184. Tell us your destination market and we will match the grade.
Which standards apply to irrigation fittings?
Emitters and emitting (drip) pipe are specified by ISO 9261. Threaded connections are cut to BSP (ISO 228 / ISO 7), NPT or metric, and dezincification resistance of water-grade brass is verified to ISO 6509-1. We machine to these references and supply EN 10204 mill certificates for the material.
What documentation do you provide?
EN 10204 Type 3.1 mill certificates as standard (3.2 third-party witnessed on request), a Certificate of Conformity and dimensional inspection reports, plus RoHS and REACH declarations with commercial orders.
What is your minimum order quantity and lead time?
There is no strict MOQ — first orders typically start from around 1,000 pieces, and we support high-volume production for OEMs. Typical lead time is 3–5 weeks from approved drawing, with prototypes and samples sooner.
