Surface Finish Options

Available finishes

Natural Brass (As Machined)
Bright machined finish. Ra 0.8–1.6 µm. Standard option. No additional coating. Suitable for most assembly applications.
Nickel Plating
Electroless or electrolytic nickel. 5–12 µm thickness. Improves corrosion resistance and provides consistent silver appearance.
Tin Plating
Electroplated tin. 4–8 µm. Excellent solderability. Common for PCB and electronics standoffs where conformal coating is applied.
Custom Programme

Non-standard? Send your drawing.

We machine standoffs to your exact specification — any length, any thread combination, non-standard hex sizes, knurled bodies, grooves, or cross-holes. If you have a 2D drawing or even a sketch, we'll quote it.

  • Non-standard thread combinations (e.g. M4 male × M5 female)
  • Reduced-diameter waist / shoulder for weight savings
  • Knurled grip surfaces on hex body
  • Round (non-hex) spacers — custom OD and ID
  • Alternative alloys: DZR CW602N, silicon brass CW724R
  • First article inspection report (FAIR) with CMM data

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between Male-Female, Female-Female and Male-Male standoffs?

Male-Female standoffs have a threaded stud on one end and an internal thread on the other, so they stack board-to-board or board-to-chassis. Female-Female standoffs have internal threads both ends and are fixed with screws from both sides — the most common PCB spacer. Male-Male standoffs have studs both ends and mount between two tapped or through-hole panels.

What sizes and lengths are available?

Threads cover M2.5, M3, M4, M5, M6 and M8 ISO metric plus #4-40 to ¼-20 UNC, with across-flats of 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 13 mm and lengths from 4 mm to 100 mm. Non-standard lengths and threads are machined to order.

Do you make standoffs in American inch threads as well as metric?

Yes. Alongside ISO metric M2.5–M8 (class 6g/6H), we machine American inch UNC/UNF threads — #4-40, #6-32, #8-32, #10-32 and ¼-20 — to ASME B1.1 class 2A/2B. Mixed metric-and-inch combinations (e.g. a metric stud with an inch tapped hole) are made to order.

Why brass for standoffs instead of steel or nylon?

Brass is conductive (useful for grounding paths), non-magnetic, corrosion resistant and machines to tighter tolerances than nylon mouldings, while resisting thread stripping far better than plastic. Tin or nickel plating is available where solderability or a harder surface is needed — see the surface finishes guide.

What material and compliance do you supply?

Standoffs are machined from CW614N (CuZn39Pb3) brass per EN 12164, RoHS and REACH compliant, manufactured under ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001. All production is made to order with mill certificates available.
