Scope of supply — read this before you send a drawing

We supply machined components, not finished valves or assemblies. CNC turning and milling and Swiss-type sliding-head work run in-house on our own lines; hot forgings are produced by qualified partner forges and then finish-machined here, so the machined features and the inspection record stay under our control.

On material claims we stay literal, because your own approvals depend on it. CW724R / C69300 meets the lead-content limit referenced by NSF/ANSI 372, and CW602N resists dezincification per ISO 6509 — those are material properties, not product approvals. Potable-water approval of the finished product (WRAS, NSF 61, Kiwa, EU 2020/2184) is held by you, on your assembly; we supply the material and inspection evidence that supports it.

Compliance documentation — RoHS, REACH and SVHC — plus our ISO certificates are issued on request or from the quality centre. Alloy data sits in the materials library.

What are custom, made-to-drawing parts?

Components manufactured to your own drawing rather than picked from a catalogue. You send the geometry, material, tolerance and finish; we machine it exactly to that spec in brass, copper or aluminium. Roughly 95% of our production is made-to-drawing custom work.

What files do you accept for a quote?

DXF, STEP, IGES, PDF drawings, or even a dimensioned hand sketch. We quote the geometry you need — not a nearest standard equivalent — and respond within 24 hours.

What materials can you machine?

Brass (CW617N, CW614N, CW602N DZR, CW724R lead-free, CW510L), copper (C11000) and aluminium (6061/6063) — matched to your application. See the alloy datasheets.

What tolerances can you hold?

Swiss-type turning holds ±0.005 mm; CNC turning & milling holds IT6–IT8 (±0.02–0.05 mm). Every part is 100% inspected against your drawing before dispatch.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

We handle prototypes through to millions of pieces a year. Bar-fed CNC and Swiss machines make both low-volume samples and high-volume production economical.

What finishes and secondary operations can you provide?

Beyond turning and milling: knurling, cross-drilling, slotting and tapping, plus plating and finishing through qualified partners — nickel, tin, zinc, electroless nickel, passivation and polishing. See the surface finishes guide; specify coating thickness and any salt-spray or RoHS requirement on your drawing.

Do you provide material & quality certificates?

Yes — EN 10204 Type 3.1 mill certificates as standard (3.2 on request), full heat-number traceability and a certificate of conformance. Brassland is ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 certified.

What is the lead time for custom brass parts?

Production lead time is typically 3–5 weeks from an approved drawing. Prototype and sample quantities are usually ready sooner. Quotations are normally issued within 24 hours of receiving your drawing, so the schedule starts as soon as the specification is agreed.

Can we order samples or prototypes before committing to production?

Yes. We run prototype and sample quantities ahead of series production, and first article samples are supplied with a dimensional inspection report so you can check every drawing feature before releasing the full quantity. There is no strict minimum order quantity, although first production orders typically start from around 1,000 pieces.

Which Incoterms and shipping ports do you work with?

We quote on Incoterms 2020: DDP, FOB and CIF as standard, with EXW or DAP on request. Shipments leave through Mundra, Pipavav, Kandla or Nhava Sheva, and the export documents reference HS codes 7415, 7412 and 7419. Brassland is a Star Export House recognised by the Government of India and ships to 40+ countries.

Do you supply finished valves and assemblies, or only machined components?

We supply machined components, not finished valves or assemblies. CNC turning and milling is done in-house; hot forgings are produced by qualified partner forges and finish-machined on our own lines. For potable-water applications the approval of the finished product stays with the customer, and we supply the material and inspection evidence that supports it.
