Why choose CW602N?

Decades of proven water service

  • Arsenic-inhibited DZR — resists dezincification in aggressive waters, qualified per ISO 6509-1
  • ~62% machinability — far easier to machine than unleaded DZR alternatives
  • Accepted across approval schemes — the established material route for WRAS/ACS/KIWA-listed products
  • UNS twin: C35330 — same metallurgy for US/Asia drawings (ASTM B453)
  • Leaded — where lead-free is mandated, move to CW724R/C69300 silicon brass

Frequently Asked Questions

CW602N — common questions

What makes CW602N dezincification resistant?

CW602N (CuZn36Pb2As) contains a small arsenic addition (typically 0.02–0.15%) that inhibits the selective leaching of zinc in aggressive, chlorinated or soft waters. Resistance is verified by the ISO 6509-1 dezincification test, making it the established DZR grade for water-contact fittings.

When should I specify CW602N instead of CW617N?

Specify CW602N whenever the part is wetted by potable or aggressive water — valve internals, tap components, fitting bodies in soft-water regions. CW617N is fine for dry-side or non-wetted parts and is easier to machine (CW602N rates about 62% machinability).

Is CW602N approved for drinking water?

CW602N is an accepted DZR material under schemes such as WRAS (UK), ACS (France) and KIWA (Netherlands), and is RoHS-compliant under Exemption 6(c). Note that approval applies to the finished product, not the raw alloy — the fitting itself must be tested and listed by the certifying body.

What are the international equivalents of CW602N?

The closest equivalents are C35330 arsenical brass (US, ASTM) and CZ132 (former UK BS designation). Composition is specified in EN 12164; Brassland supplies EN 10204 Type 3.1 mill certificates and can arrange ISO 6509-1 test evidence per lot on request.
