Inserts engineered to your resin, boss and load case

Every part here is machined to tight, repeatable tolerances and matched to how it installs — self-tapping flutes, heat-set knurls, mould-in undercuts or press-fit barbs. Share your substrate, boss dimensions and volume and we'll recommend the right family, thread and finish.

Drawings show typical geometry and reference dimensions (E, A, L, OD, P). Exact values are confirmed against your application at quotation.
Self-TappingBrassland self-tapping threaded insert drawing — slot-free body with cutting thread
Self-Tapping Inserts
Cut their own thread cold into a moulded or drilled boss — no heat or ultrasonics. Ideal for thermosets, composites and field service.
  • Solid, slot-free body for high install and seating torque
  • Cutting thread balances install torque against retention
  • Works where melt methods can't — thermosets and GRP
M2 – M12Thermoset & thermoplastic
Self-Tapping · FlangedBrassland self-tapping inserts — headless and flanged-head variants
Headed & Headless Variants
Choose a flanged head for extra bearing area and a flush, gap-bridging seat, or a headless body where space is tight.
  • Flanged head adds bearing surface and limits push-in
  • Headless body for thin walls and flush installation
  • Coarse external thread bites soft and filled resins
M3 – M10Headed / headless
Self-Tapping · TypesBrassland self-tapping insert types L3070, L3072, L3080, L3082 — hex-drive and slotted socket options
Drive & Socket Options
Hex-drive (L3072/L3082) and plain socket (L3070/L3080) types let you match the installation tooling already on your line.
  • Hex socket for controlled, high-torque driving
  • Plain bore options for press or screw installation
  • Common thread sizes across all drive types
L3070 – L3082Hex / socket
Heat-SetBrassland heat-set / heat-staking inserts — models FB, FBH, FBS and FBHS including stud variants
Heat-Set / Heat-Staking Inserts
Pressed into softened thermoplastic with a heated tip; the melt re-flows around the knurls and locks on cooling. Models FB, FBH, FBS and FBHS, including stud variants.
  • Lowest residual boss stress, highest retention in thermoplastics
  • Headless (FB), flanged (FBH) and threaded-stud (FBS/FBHS)
  • Standard solution for FDM and SLS 3D-printed parts
M1.6 – M8Thermoplastic
Press-InBrassland press-in insert drawing — headless and headed bodies
Press-In Inserts
Pressed cold into a prepared hole — no heat or energy input. The fastest, simplest installation where ambient assembly is acceptable.
  • Headless and headed (flanged) bodies
  • External retention features resist jack-out
  • No tooling heat — assembly without specialist kit
M2 – M8Thermoplastic
Mould-InBrassland mould-in insert drawing — open-ended knurled body for over-moulding
Mould-In Inserts · Open-Ended
Loaded on a core pin and over-moulded in place, so resin forms directly around the body. The highest retention of any method.
  • Open (through-boss) design for pin location
  • Diamond knurl maximises pull- and torque-out
  • Fully encapsulated — no post-install interface to fail
M2 – M12Any moulded resin
Mould-In · SlottedBrassland mould-in insert drawing — slotted body with anti-rotation groove
Mould-In Inserts · Slotted
A circumferential slot and end groove give a positive mechanical key against both pull-out and rotation in the moulded part.
  • Anti-rotation groove resists torque-out
  • Knurled body with locking undercut
  • Suited to high-torque, high-cycle joints
M2 – M10Anti-rotation
Mould-In · FlangedBrassland mould-in insert drawing — flanged headed body
Mould-In Inserts · Flanged
A flanged head sits proud of the boss for a defined bearing face and a clean datum at the moulded surface.
  • Headed bearing face for the mating part
  • Double-knurl body for retention in both directions
  • Defined seating datum at the part surface
M3 – M10Headed
Mould-In · HexBrassland mould-in insert drawing — hex body for maximum anti-rotation
Mould-In Inserts · Hex Body
A hexagonal external profile gives the strongest possible anti-rotation lock in the moulded resin for the highest torque demands.
  • Hex flats give maximum torque-out resistance
  • End groove adds axial pull-out retention
  • For structural, heavily loaded fixings
M4 – M12Max torque-out

Send us your part number — we'll match it

Switching supplier is simple. Send a sample, drawing or existing part number and our engineers will match the geometry — thread, length, knurl or barb form, head style and installation method — or recommend an improved equivalent in CuZn39Pb3 brass, with prototyping and validation before you commit to volume.

Self-tapping inserts cut their own thread cold and work in thermosets and composites. Heat-set inserts are pressed into softened thermoplastic with a heated tip for the lowest boss stress and highest retention. Press-in inserts are pushed cold into a prepared hole for the simplest assembly. Mould-in inserts are over-moulded in the tool for the highest retention of all. Share your substrate, boss size and volume and we'll recommend the right one.

They are solderless, board-mount brass parts that fix directly to a circuit board so cables, fuses and heavy leads can be anchored to the PCB. Press-fit terminals use pin arrays on a 2.54 mm pitch; crimp sockets use a continuous thread for layouts that don't allow full-load pins. Both are tin-plated CuZn39Pb3 and available with UNC threads or custom layouts.

Standard metric coverage runs M1.6 to M12, with UNC and imperial equivalents available. PCB terminals and sockets follow DIN 82 knurl forms where applicable. Custom thread sizes, lengths and pin layouts can be engineered for specific applications.

Yes — heat-set inserts (models FB, FBH, FBS, FBHS) are the standard solution for FDM and SLS parts. The heated insert re-flows the plastic around its knurls and into the layer structure, turning weak printed threads into durable, reusable metal threads.

Yes. Provide a sample, drawing or part number and we can match the geometry or recommend an improved equivalent, including custom threads, knurls, head styles and pin layouts, backed by prototyping and validation before volume.

In most cases, yes. Provide the brand, part number or a physical sample and our applications team will identify the closest Brassland equivalent — matching thread, length, knurl or barb geometry, head style and installation method — and confirm fit against your boss design before production.
