Slotted (screwdriver) set screw, long dog point — turned in brass to standard and to your drawing.

Home / Products / Standard Parts / Set Screws / DIN 417

A DIN 417 set screw is a headless slotted grub screw with a long dog point — a cylindrical pilot tip — that locates into a hole or slot in the mating part; it is the slotted-drive equivalent of the hex-socket DIN 915 and corresponds to ISO 7435. Brassland machines it from free-cutting brass CW617N (CuZn40Pb2) to the standard and to your drawing, as part of our set screws programme.

Applications

Typical applications include positive location of a part by engaging the dog into a drilled hole, guide and pilot pins riding in a slot, and indexing into a machined pocket. All parts are made to order, so size, thread, finish and certification are tailored to your specification.

Frequently asked questions

What point does DIN 417 have?

A long dog point — a cylindrical unthreaded pilot that locates into a hole or slot to set position and resist rotation.

Is DIN 417 the slotted version of DIN 915?

Yes — DIN 417 (ISO 7435) is the screwdriver-slot long-dog set screw; DIN 915 is the hex-socket equivalent.

What is the difference between a dog and a cone point?

A dog point locates into a hole or slot; a cone point (DIN 553) bites into the surface for grip.

Available in brass?

Yes — standard brass (CW617N/CW614N); lead-free CW724R on request.
