DIN 16903 Form S

Round body, with shoulder, with through-hole — brass mould-in threaded insert, knurled, CW614N, M2–M12.

Home / Products / Moulding Inserts / DIN 16903 Form S

The DIN 16903 Form S is a brass mould-in threaded insert with a round body, with shoulder, with through-hole, knurled on its outside so that when it is placed in the injection mould and plastic is moulded around it, it locks into the plastic part and gives a durable metric thread; the through-hole lets a screw pass completely through the insert; the round body suits lighter loads and tighter spacing; and the shoulder sets seating depth with a flush bearing face. Brassland machines it from free-cutting brass CW614N (CuZn39Pb3) — or lead-free CW724R — to DIN 16903, as part of our moulding-insert programme.

Applications

DIN 16903 mould-in inserts give a strong, reusable metal thread in a plastic part. Typical applications include injection-moulded housings and enclosures, automotive interior and under-hood plastics, electrical and electronics housings, EV connector and battery-pack plastics, telecom and instrumentation cases, and appliance and power-tool bodies. All parts are made to order to your drawing.

Frequently asked questions

How is a DIN 16903 Form S insert installed?

It is a mould-in insert: it is loaded into the injection tool and the plastic is moulded around it, embedding the thread as the part is formed (not pressed or heat-set in afterwards).

What makes Form S different from the other DIN 16903 forms?

All 14 forms share the same mould-in principle and differ in body shape, shoulder and bore. Form S is a round body, with shoulder, with through-hole. See the full A–U comparison on the moulding-inserts hub.

What material and thread sizes are available?

Standard brass is CW614N (CuZn39Pb3); lead-free CW724R is available for potable-water and RoHS/REACH-sensitive parts. Metric threads M2–M12; intermediate sizes to drawing.

Which knurling can be specified?

Diamond (cross), straight or unidirectional knurling can be specified to tune pull-out and torque resistance for your resin and load case.
