DIN 936 Brass Thin Jam Nut

Thin hexagon jam / lock nut — machined in brass CW614N to standard and to your drawing.

Home / Products / Standard Parts / Brass Nuts / DIN 936

A DIN 936 nut is a thin hexagon nut used as a jam or lock nut, historically offered in both coarse and fine pitch; DIN 936 is withdrawn and is now generally replaced by ISO 4035. Brassland machines it from free-cutting brass CW614N (CuZn39Pb3) — or lead-free CW724R — to the standard and to your drawing, as part of our brass nut programme.

Applications

Typical applications for the Brass Thin Jam Nut include fine-pitch shaft and bearing lock-nutting, pre-load jam locking against a main nut, spindle and pulley locking, and valve-stem or actuator retention. As all parts are made to order, sizes, threads, plating and certification are tailored to your specification.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between DIN 936 and DIN 439?

Both are thin nuts. DIN 936 is the thin jam/lock nut historically stocked in fine pitch and starting at M8; DIN 439 is the chamfered thin nut (ISO 4035) available in smaller sizes.

Is DIN 936 obsolete?

The DIN 936 standard has been withdrawn and is generally superseded by ISO 4035 (coarse) / ISO 8675 (fine), but parts are still made and ordered to the DIN 936 designation.

Can DIN 936 brass nuts be supplied in fine pitch?

Yes — DIN 936 covers both coarse and fine-pitch threads; the across-flats and height are the same for either.

What sizes are DIN 936 nuts made in?

The standard range is M8–M16 for the dimensions shown; larger sizes are available to order.
